Thomas Friedman, one of my favorite New York Times Op-Ed columnists reflects on how we as a nation got into the financial mess that we have seen in the past two weeks. In his October 14th column he says “We got away from the basics — from the fundamentals of prudent lending and borrowing, where the lender and borrower maintain some kind of personal responsibility for, and personal interest in, whether the person receiving the money can actually pay it back.”
It’s all about getting back to the basics of trust. He cites a book by Dov Seidman entitled How: Why How We Do Anything Means Everything…in Business (and in Life) having to do with practical ethics. Seidman is also a blogger at Howsmatter and writes a column for Business Week.
My pledge to all my clients is to always be truthful and give you all of the best information I have. At the end of a transaction I hope my clients will always be able to answer “Yes!” to the question: Did Rick Bonetti always act in your best interests?
