The Saratoga Men’s Club meets on the third Tuesday at the Foothill Club at 20399 Park Place; this Arts and Crafts style clubhouse was designed in 1914 by famed architect Julia Morgan and listed on the National Register of Historic places.
The Saratoga Men’s Club marks its beginnings from 1918 when a group of Saratoga men started an informal association to support a loval Boy Scout Troup. Four years later the orgainization was formally incorporated for the purpose of promoting community service and social recreation for its members.
Membership is limited to 175 men with the requirement that one attend at least four meetings a year and reside in Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno or surrounding unincorporated areas. My dad T.R. (Ted) Bonetti was a member of the club and played the saxophone for club dances. I was inducted into membership in 2006 after waiting 7 years on the waiting list (which currently has 57 names)! Someone had to die or move out of the area to make way for next on the list.
Monthly meetings always have a very nice catered dinner and very intersting speaker. Speaker for November was Kevin Friesen (above photo), who served as an Associate Pastor at Saratoga Federated Church for nearly 20 years. He left the local church ministry to launch NextStep Bridges, Inc. “to work with exceptional leaders, ideas or organizataions to orchestrate financial and human resource needed for them to bring transformation to the people they work with.
Call Rick if you are interested in joining and have the patience of Job.
