Santa Clara County property owners 55+ years and older are allowed to transfer the base year value of their principal residence to a newly purchased residence in Santa Clara County or six other cooperating counties. Proposition 60 is the enabling legislation for transfer within the county and Proposition 90 is for six other counties (Alameda, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Mateo and Ventura) Â
The replacement property must be equal to or lesser value than the original property, an application has to be filed and accepted with appraisals by the assessors office.
