Last Friday, February 6, 2009, the Mercury News published an article on the Santa Clara County Assessors office’s plans to review the property valuation of approximately 200,000 homes (especially those purchasted since 2000).
Because of the increased workload, assessed valuations are now expected to come out late June and homeowners have until August 15 to file a formal protest if you do not agree.
Many people have received notification from a company in Los Angeles to make an application for a revaluation for $179 fee, “if you act fast”.  Some companies take a substantial percentage of any reduction they are able to obtain.  Truth is you can do this yourself and the County Assessor’s office has instuctions aboutÂ
