South Bay 4th of July Celebrations

Here are some great ideas for 4th of July fun in the south bay of Santa Clara County:

LOS GATOS
Time: 1:30-3:30PM
Location: front lawn of Los Gatos High School
Event Description: San Jose Wind Symphony at 1:30PM; Preceeded by a Hometown Picnic & games 11AM-1:30PM at the Civic Center; followed by the Peninsula Banjo Band 3:30-4:45PM, with free cookies; and 4:45-5:30PM Bingo and lemonade at the Civic Center.

SARATOGA:
Time: 10:15 AM
Location: Azule Park (on Goleta Avenue in Saratoga, CA)
Event Description: parade with the US Navy and Girl Scout color guards; McCartysville Volunteer Band, Chinese Chorus; people dressed as Uncle Sam and early American historical characters. Children will receive ice cream, a US flag, and a balloon. Please bring a cash donation for the Red Cross “Soldiers Care and Comfort Fund.”

SANTA CLARA
Time:  8am-5pm
Location: Central Park, 909 Kiely Blvd., Santa Clara
Event Description: All American pancake breakfast followed by entertainment and family activities, fireworks at 9:30pm. picnic, games, symphony, ice cream, bingo, BBQ and live music

CUPERTINO
Time: 7:00am pancake breakfast; 10:00AM children’s parade; 9:30pm fireworks
Location: Cupertino High School, 10100 Finch Ave, Cupertino

SUNNYVALE
Time: Noon
Location: Baylands Park, 999 E. Caribbean, Sunnyvale
Event Description: Star Spangled Sunnyvale Family Fun Fest – food, live entertainment, pie eating contest and games.  Please, no pets, fireworks, portable BBQ’s or alcohol allowed at this event per City ordinance.

SAN JOSE
Time: Cancelled!
Location: Please not that the “San Jose American Festival” previously scheduled at Discovery Meadow, Guadalupe River Park, Woz Way and W. San Carlos St., San Jose has been cancelled because of lack of city funding.  So don’t show up expecting the event.  Maybe next year??

For those who want to enjoy 4th of July fireworks from their armchair I recommend A Capital Forth on KQED chanel 9 at 8:00PM.
