Saratoga Neighborhoods
On May 25, 2010 I attended a gathering at the Plumed Horse in Saratoga, CA for the Saratoga-Monte Sereno Community Foundation, a non-profit organization of community and civic-minded, concerned individuals who are working toward improving the quality of life in Saratoga and Monte Sereno, California.
My wife Lynne and I were among the 50 original founding supporters in 2003. Since then, they have affiliated with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to manage their funds. Now the organization has a new Board of Directors. Wanda Kownacki (above in black) is the new president; Dee Sanfilippo (in blue) is the new Secretary. Our friend Terrie Creamer is the new Treasurer, looking for support to raise $200,000.
Current projects under consideration are: Music in Wildwood Park, Educational Programs at Heritage Orchard and Community Gardens.
My own interest is in seeing the establishment of a west valley village organization that provides concierge services that allow residents to age at home with additional support. I see this as a new initiative that complements the fine work of Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council.
