Saratoga Hopes to Expand Park Lands
On August 17, 2011 the Saratoga City Council unanimously approved acquisition of a 64.5 acres former quarry, on the south side of Congress Springs Road (Highway 9), just west of Toll Gate Road, as shown in the map above. Project funding is in conjunction with Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD), County of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department and the Santa Clara County Roads Department. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors still needs to vote on the proposal September 27, 2011.
The plan, which has been in the works for 10 years, is that eventually someone could hike from Hakone Gardens up to Castle Rock State Park and then on to the sea.
